People bounce over to community center for easter egg hunt

Fort Worth residents came together Saturday at the Thomas Place Recreation Center to enjoy an easter egg hunt celebration.
The event featured four different egg hunts for different ages; a 3 and under, 4 to 5, 6 to 7 and 8 and up. While the eggs that were hidden were all empty, kids could turn in their empty eggs to receive a gift bag with candy and other treats. There was also a petting zoo, arts and crafts, moon bounces and games, such as a cupcake walk.
Whitney Johnson said she brought her 3-year-old daughter to enjoy the activities, after trying three other locations and missing each of those egg hunts by a matter of minutes.
“I really wanted my daughter to do an egg hunt,” Johnson said. “I relish the chance for her to get outside and make friends.”

Amieona Ashford, 8 years old, came out with her brother, sister and mom to enjoy the event.
“I just want to see everybody get some eggs and have fun,” Ashford said. “After the eggs, my mom’s going to hold our baskets and I’m going to go play.”

Other kids however, like Billy Frantz’s 9 and 12 year old sons, were there for the community events more than the egg hunt.
“They’re too cool for it now,” Frantz said. “They’re enjoying the weather more than the eggs.”
Members from the Arlington Heights Methodist Church were also at the event, with a large supply of bubbles to share. They also brought their food truck that offered apples, bananas and granola bars, as what pastor Allen Lutes called a “healthy alternative to all the candy.”
“Today is just a lot of fun,” Lutes said. “I think it’s important that the church be in the neighborhood and we have a lot of friends here.”
