Game days, which are highly anticipated and embraced by the Fort Worth community, start in just four days.

Students say that it has been too long since TCU football has taken the field –242 days too long.

Sophomore Connor Mortell says he has missed everything about it. He grew up watching the games as a kid and now as a sophomore, with one year of TCU football already under his belt, he’s ready to get back to game day.

“The excitement, the whole football culture we have here, everything is phenomenal,” Mortell said.

Purple can be seen everywhere, alumni return and the level of school spirit is incredible, sophomore Makenzie Heard said.

“Everyone from Fort Worth rallies around TCU,” Heard said. “It just brings everyone together.”

And that community aspect is exactly what first-year student Alexandra Hajerty seeks as a student experience. She said she has heard about the camaraderie around the program and is finally ready to be a part of the “legendary Horned Frog spirit.”

“Everyone keeps talking about how amazing the football games are,” Hajerty said. “And I’m a new Horned Frog fan, so I’m excited for this season.”

And this season, many have already picked which games they have their eye on.

Mortell said that even though he’s confident the Frogs will beat the Mustangs, he can’t wait to watch the game against SMU.

“I’m excited to see us destroy them,” Mortell said.

Heard is also excited for the SMU game. She said she might travel to the game and support her Frogs on the road.

“I might get off campus and show our school spirit close to home,” Heard said.

Other popular games among students are Oklahoma and Baylor.

Kick-off for the Frogs is this at 7 p.m. Saturday against South Dakota State in Amon G. Carter Stadium.
