TCU won a tight game, 1-0, against the University of Kansas on Wednesday, advancing to the Big 12 Championship semifinal game.
In the first half of play, the Horned Frogs were outshot 4-3 by the Kansas Jayhawks. But, TCU had two shots on goal; Kansas had none.
The Frogs changed their tone of play in the second half.
In the first six minutes of the second half, junior forward Allison Ganter, who scored the game-winning goal in the previous game against the University of Texas, was able to find the back of the net for her fourth game-winning goal of the season.
Head coach Eric Bell said Ganter’s goal was significant. He added that Ganter is hardworking and great at executing on the field.
“She’s comes in and does her job,” Bell said. “She creates goal-scoring opportunities.”
In the final minutes of the match, first-year goalie Katie Lund was able to stop two potential game-tying goals by the Jayhawks.
Bell said that Lund’s play was crucial to the Frogs’ win.
“We needed her tonight,” he said. “She performed and stepped up to make some big saves.”
TCU will play Baylor on Friday at 7 p.m.
