The 109’s University Christian Church is hosting several events during the advent season.
The advent season is the first season of the Christian church year that leads up to Christmas and includes four Sundays after.
Thirteen separate events will be held including: the Christmas Angels Wrap Night, Finals Feast and Annual Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival.
Christmas Angels Wrap Night
Christmas Angels Wrap Night is a UCC outreach ministry that benefits 500 economically disadvantaged children in the community each year, Poling said.
This year, it will be held on Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Walker Hall.
For $80, people can purchase a brown bag that will be donated to a child. Each bag is filled with a new coat, sweatshirt, jeans, shoes, socks, underwear, an outdoor toy and a book, Poling said.
The children are all school-aged and are found through the school system, Poling said.
Finals Feast
The first day of finals UCC is inviting college students to enjoy a Christmas feast from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 12.
The feast includes treats and an early Christmas present from the University Christian Church family.
The flyer for the Finals Feast said, “All college students are invited to de-stress.”
The event is free for college students.
Annual Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival
This year will be the 41st annual Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival.
The flyer states, “Come celebrate the triumph of good over evil and the true meaning of Christmas.”
It will be held on Jan. 7 and 8 from 3 to 5 p.m.
According to the festival’s flyer, music, costumes and pageantry make the festival unique.
Fifteen dollar tickets can be purchased for reserved seating and unreserved seats are free.
Tickets can be purchased at the event’s website.
