For many, buying a Christmas tree is a sacred family tradition.
In the Fort Worth area, Christmas tree farms are keeping this tradition alive with not just Douglas firs, but hot cocoa, games, and other holiday activities.
Here are 4 of the best Christmas tree farms to visit in the area:
1. Mainstay Farm
Hayrides, funnel cakes, zip lines, mazes, and a 100-foot-long Super Chute slide make Mainstay Farm much more than a place to swipe your card and chop down a tree. Located just 25 minutes from TCU’s campus, this Christmas tree farm offers both imported and farm-grown trees starting at $50, along with fun for the whole family. The farm also includes the Haymarket, a gift shop modeled after a milking parlor, full of holiday gifts like wreaths and garlands, along with farm-harvested honey and seasonal jams.

Here, visitors will have to decide not between real or fake, but colored or not colored. According to seasoned visitors, Haynie’s is the home of crazy-colored Christmas trees, ranging from blue, purple, pink and of course the classic snowy white. The farm also provides a complimentary petting zoo, hayrides and playgrounds, along with fresh apple cider and homemade bread for purchase in their gift shop.
