The Fort Worth Library is currently in the process of creating the program schedule for the spring of 2017.
Christina Garcia, a library assistant, said the programs are still being decided on since the rooms must be reserved ahead of time.
“Some things are still subject to change because we have to reserve rooms,” she said. “We always offer so many different projects­–­it’s hard to keep up.”
Garcia said some programs like the LEGO EV3 robotics program will be offered again next spring at certain branches.
“We haven’t decided the exact dates,” Garcia said. “I’ve got the locations.”
Garcia said there are programming librarians at the Central Library who brainstorm ideas for new events to provide at the different branches.
“They try to keep track of what is new, relevant and trending in libraries,” she said. “We do evaluations at every program. We try to incorporate suggestions from community members.”
Garcia said the spring 2017 catalog, which contains the details and dates for all of the programs happening at the 16 branches of the Fort Worth Library, will be published sometime around February.
“We’ll have all the brochures in all of the branches probably in February,” she said. “We scale back on our programming for the first month of the chapter. We split up the year into three chapters. We’ve got fall, spring and summer. That’s four months for each chapter.”
According to the Southwest Regional Library calendar, there are a variety of events already being publicized for the spring:

• Story time will continue to be at 4 p.m. on Mondays, 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays.

• The Jim Lee book club will continue to be once a month at 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday of the month.

• The “It’s rodeo time in Fort Worth” event will be happening on Jan. 28, where kids of a variety of ages will get the opportunity to listen to interactive songs and stories, and to learn about how to be a cowboy.

• The five-week families reading together program will be offered Apr. 11, Apr. 18, Apr. 25, May 2 and May 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. where families will read stories aloud to help their children develop skills such as critical thinking, reading comprehension and promote reading as a family.

 
The spring 2017 Southwest Regional Library programs will be posted to the library’s calendar and will also be available in the Fort Worth Library catalog.
