The Horned Frogs welcomed TCU rifle alumna Hannah Black as the new team assistant coach.

“I am thrilled that Hannah will be returning to her alma mater where she enjoyed tremendous success as a TCU student-athlete,” head coach Karen Monez said.

Black returned to Fort Worth after a year of coaching at the University of Mississippi. She was a four-year member of the rifle team and a six-time All-American.

As a first-year student, Black qualified as an individual in air rifle and shot a 594 to place fifth in the finals. For the remaining three seasons, she was one of five shooters at the championships. She led the team to a sixth-place finish in 2014, a third-place finish in 2015 and a second-place finish in 2016.

As a professional, Black has been apart of the U.S. National Team since 2014. She has competed in numerous competitions including the Pan Am Games, the Bavarian Airgun Championships, the Championship of the America’s games, the 2012 and 2016 Olympic trials and five World Cups.

Along with her athletic successes, Black was equally as successful in the classroom. She was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and was on the Dean’s List for eight semesters.

“As a member of the rifle team, Hannah led the Frogs with a commitment to excellence that is needed to be successful, and I look for her to bring that same mentality back to TCU as a coach,” Monez said.

The season is set to start Sept. 30 when the Frogs will compete at the University of Memphis.
