The No. 6 TCU equestrian team won their season-opening scrimmage against Texas Tech and North Central Texas at Turning Point Ranch in Springtown, Texas.
The Horned Frogs went three for two in Equitation over Fences against the Raiders. Freshman Raegan Rast was the high scorer with a 79 on Tony, leading her to be selected as the Most Outstanding Performance for that event.
Sophomore Cydney Benes was a standout for MOP with an 84-point ride in Horsemanship. Benes led the Frogs to a 4-0 sweep of that event.
The team went on to win 4-1 in Equitation to bring the final score against Texas Tech in Hunt Seat to 7-3, TCU. Freshman Janelle Henningsen had a spectacular performance in her first collegiate ride, earning a point and the MOP for an 84-point ride.
The Horned Frogs won the Reining event 3-1 against the Lions with strong performances by freshmen Mackenzie Preston and Adrianna Adams and sophomore Elena Hurd.
“It was an awesome day at Turning Point Ranch,” said Haley Schoolfield, director of equestrian. “There were many great rides and a few moments we can grow from.”
Their next meet will be Friday, Sept. 29 against SMU at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
