The Big 12 announced its conference schedule Thursday at 2 p.m., and the Horned Frogs came away with games against some of the nation’s best teams.
The 18-game Big 12 Conference schedule includes TCU hosting West Virginia on Big Monday, one of the premier primetime slots for men’s basketball. It will be on Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN.
“Big Monday has been the main showcase for college basketball for as long as I’ve been a head coach,” TCU head coach Jamie Dixon said. “In other leagues I’ve been in, the first thing you looked for when the conference schedule came out was if you had a Big Monday home game.”
Expectations are high for Jamie Dixon’s second year in Fort Worth as his team returns its top six scorers from last season’s NIT championship team.
TCU will begin conference play on Dec. 30 when Oklahoma comes to Schollmaier Arena. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.
The Horned Frogs will then hit the road for four of their next six games, starting with a Jan. 2 game at Baylor at 6 p.m. on ESPNews. On Jan. 6, TCU will receive a visit from defending Big 12 champion Kansas, whom TCU defeated in the conference tournament last season.
After hosting West Virginia on ESPN’s Big Monday on Jan. 22, TCU will pause conference play when it plays at Vanderbilt on Jan. 27 in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Frogs will resume Big 12 play at Oklahoma State on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
TCU will conclude the conference slate with three of its last five games in Fort Worth, hosting games against Oklahoma State, Baylor and Kansas State. All of the games will be aired on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The double round-robin format of the conference schedule will segue into the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship, which is held March 7-10 in Kansas City’s Sprint Center.
