The No. 6 TCU equestrian team lost their match against the No. 8 SMU Mustangs on Friday in Dallas.

Senior Jayme Omand scored the only point for TCU in Hunt Seat with an 85 on Limelight, before the Horned Frogs tied for the Flat with a score of 2-2. Senior Carley Barnett was close to edging SMU’s Vivian Yowan in Hunt Seat, but just missed her point with a score of 86-84. Omand’s score of 90 earned her MOP in that event.

The team went on to win 3-2 in Western with great rides from freshman Adrianna Adams, and sophomores Elena Hurd and Carly Lombard. Adams scored a 71.5 on Stewie, beating SMU’s Keagan Snively’s re-ride score of 65.5.

The Horned Frogs tied the Mustangs in Western with a score of 5-5. In Horsemanship, TCU was strong but the scores were just too tight. Two of the rides were decided by half a point.

“Today was tough,” director of equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. “But I think these days make us hungrier.”

TCU’s next meet will be Friday, Oct. 6, against Delaware State and UT-Martin in Dover, Delaware.
