“American Made” starring Tom Cruise is an average movie that has a few good moments throughout the film.
This movie is a crime action film that follows the story of Barry Seal. Seal is recruited by the CIA and is used to become part of one the biggest CIA operations in South America.
Cruise is no stranger to starring in an action movie. His list of movies include: “The Mummy,” “Mission Impossible,” “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Jack Reacher” and many more. This time around Cruise was not just used in crazy stunts and action scenes, but had to portray the full emotional scope of a man working for the CIA and trying to support his family. He has to show the happiness of making millions and the low of getting in major trouble when caught.
While his acting along with Domhnall Gleeson is well done, the rest of this cast was very forgettable. Sarah Wright who played the wife of Seal in the film didn’t add much other than something for him to “fight for” if things went bad.
The first half of the movie to many will feel like a drag as it does a lot of setting up for the second half and has little to no action during this time. Once the second half starts up, it heats up with action, twists and plenty happening all at once.
Verdict:
Overall, the acting is good by Cruise but not his best movie by far. The rest of the cast is forgettable and boring. Although the second half is filled with a lot of fun the first half can get very boring and takes a while to set things up. But this movie makes for a fun evening if there is nothing better to go see at the movies and you can’t get enough of Tom Cruise.
