Senior Mindy Miles became the second athlete in NCAA history to fire two perfect scores in a career over the weekend, shooting her second 600 to lift TCU to victory over Memphis and Nebraska.

“Mindy is a world class shooter producing world class scores,” head coach Karen Monez said. “To shoot a solid 10 on that last shot of the match when you know you are working on a perfect score demonstrates just how mentally tough Mindy is.”

Miles’s 600 in Air Rifle led the team, and strong scores from the other four shooters, including a 596 from junior Rachel Garner, gave them the second highest Air Rifle mark in program history at 2,382.

The Horned Frogs finished with an aggregate score of 4,711, which was their lowest of the season, but still enough to defeat the second-place Memphis Tigers by 48 points.

The team recorded the top five individual aggregate scores of the match for the third time this season.

Freshman Elizabeth Marsh continued her strong season, leading the field with a score of 586 in Smallbore and the second-highest aggregate score of 1,178.

“The team had their ups and downs during the course of the match, but they still produced a record-setting Air Rifle team score and a solid aggregate score today,” Monez said.

Next week, TCU travels to West Virginia, where they will face a Mountaineers program that has won the last five national championships. The two teams are ranked 1 and 2 in the current College Rifle Coaches Association poll.

TCU has been the national runner-up to West Virginia by a combined 26 points over the last two seasons.
