The Fort Worth fire department is sending personnel and equipment to help fight historic wildfires in the Texas panhandle.

New ice cream shop rolls into Fort Worth

The rolled ice cream craze has come to Fort Worth. Chills360 is a Dallas-based chain that opened its third shop in the West 7th District on Foch Street.

The picturesque desert is made by pouring the ice cream base onto a cold steel surface and mixing it with a toppings like bananas or peanut butter. The base is then flattened onto the surface and allowed to chill until it can be rolled.

Customers lined up outside during the shop’s opening weekend to feast on a variety of ice cream combinations. There are eight specials on the board, each with a quirky name like Monkey Business and What the Fudge.

Ice cream aficionados can also experiment on their own with their three bases and variety of toppings like toasted marshmallows, sprinkles and hazelnut straws. All extra toppings are free.

“We had a very busy opening weekend,” Chills360 cashier, Sanjita, said. “People were lined up until close and someone is always in the shop.”

Customers can either take their dessert outside and wander the streets or stay and enjoy the picnic style benches and take pictures in front of the large mural in the shop.

Danny Cruz, a sophomore math major, said he enjoyed watching his ice cream being made in front of him. “It’s a hip environment that is a cool place to chill.”

The Thai dessert became popular on social media because of the directness of the forming process and the Instagrammable nature of the presentation. Sanjita said that customers especially enjoy being able to write whatever they want on the inside of their rolls with a sauce of their choice.
