The TCU Women’s Basketball team suffered its second loss of the season Wednesday in College Station, falling to the Texas A&M Aggies 71-58 in the annual Maggie Dixon Classic, named after TCU men’s basketball coach Jamie Dixon’s sister. 

The Horned Frogs took an eight-point lead, 32-24, into halftime, but they were outscored 25-10 in the third quarter after shooting just 26 percent. A&M ended the third quarter on a 9-2 run after tying the game at 40 and maintained this lead for the rest of the game.

TCU’s 58 total points and 10 points in the third quarter were both season lows. The Aggies, however, exploded for 47 points in the second half, led by a 50 percent shooting percentage and 13 third-quarter points for senior Khaalia Hillsman.

“In the second half, especially in that third quarter, we just weren’t our best, and our interior defense wasn’t solid enough,” TCU head coach Raegan Pebley said. “I don’t think we were able to generate much tempo with our offense because of our defense.”

The Horned Frogs were led on offense by junior Amy Okonkwo, who had 19 points and 7 rebounds. Junior Jordan Moore was the only other player in double figures with 11 points and 9 rebounds.

The Horned Frogs return home for a Sunday afternoon game against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. Tip off is at 2:00 p.m.
