College students seem to have a reliance on caffeine to get them through lectures and late night study sessions, but there are healthier alternatives to power through the day.

“Black Panther” has great acting, costumes and villains: making it one of the best Marvel movies.

After the death of T’Challa’s father, he returns to his home of Wakanda to become the new king. However, being king isn’t easy when an enemy from the past appears to threaten his reign of the throne. T’Challa must use his power of the Black Panther to save his country and his throne.

This film offers so many characters that one might think could fall flat or be one-dimensional, but that isn’t the case. Every character in the movie feels important and has something to offer to the story.

The acting in this movie might be the best in any Marvel movie to date. Chadwick Boseman, who plays the T’Challa/Black Panther, did a great job portraying someone who is battling the pressures of being the new king. Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong’o offer great support for Boseman.

However, the real firepower of this movie was its two villains. Whether in a CGI suit or not, Andy Serkis is always great in any movie. In this one, he provides some of the funniest moments of the film, being the crazy side villain of Klaw. The true villain, Killmonger, is played by Michael B. Jordan, and he hits this one out of the park just like in “Creed.” He is a villain that you feel for and understand where he is coming from. He is one of my favorite Marvel villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.

The costumes in this movie are also awesome. The Blank Panther suit and all the outfits the people of Wakanda wear are beautiful. The world that they built in this movie is awesome, and there is so much more that wasn’t even explored yet.

However, there was something that bothered me a few times during this movie and that was some of the CGI. Granted a lot of the battle scenes in the movie were awesome and worth the wait, but every once in a while you noticed when they were using a green screen. It took away from some of the fighting to me, but not enough to make me hate any of it.

Verdict:

This has some of Marvel’s best acting yet and its best villain to date. Paired with the great soundtrack and costume, this movie was a great experience before seeing “Avengers: Infinity War.” This movie is certainly worth seeing this weekend.
