The TCU equestrian team won a 13-6 decision on the road against UT-Martin Saturday.

“Our team rode strong all day,” Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. “They have been working very hard all semester and today they saw the payoff.”

The Frogs defeated UT-Martin, improving to 8-0 all-time against the Skyhawks.

In Equitation over Fences, the Frogs went 2-3, but the first-years excelled. Elizabeth McKim earned herself the Most Oustanding Player honor with her 85-point ride, and Alex Beneson won the point with her 82-point ride, beating Skyhawk Randi LaChance by 13 points.

In Horsemanship, the Frogs swept UT-Martin 5-0. Sophomores Jamie Cook, Cydney Benes, Laska Anderson, Josie Mootz and senior Elizabeth Bohn earned all five points for TCU. Anderson earned her third MOP accolade and ninth win of the season.

In Reining, first-year Josie Ferrante picked up her second-career MOP. Sophomore Elena Hurd ended in a 70.5-70.5 draw with Skyhawk Hannah McDonald.

On the Flat, the Horned Frogs finished with a 4-1 decision. Senior Emelie Burgess rode to a 10-point margin against Skyhawk Quinn Reed and earned her second MOP of the season with a 77-67 win.

Next, No. 7 TCU will take on No. 9 South Dakota State Feb. 22 at Turning Point Ranch.

“We have a quick turnaround to host two very good teams next week,” Schoolfield said. “So we are looking ahead in preparation for those.”
