The Frogs started day of the championship weekend against Baylor, pulling away to win 10-9. Today, they would end up on the other side of the battle.

TCU had a rocky start, just edging out in Reining 3-2. Senior riders Jessica McAllister, Giorgia Medows and Shea Graham all earned points for the Frogs.

Fences is where the Frogs have had their struggles all year. Oklahoma State earned a 5-0 sweep and would go up 7-3 entering the second half.

Where The Frogs have shined all year is Horsemanship. TCU earned their fifth 5-0 sweep with riders Jessica McAllister, Payton Boutelle, Giorgia Medows, Shea Graham and Mattie Dukes all earning points for the Frogs.

Going into Flat, the Frogs were up 8-7. Ashleigh Scully was the sole point for TCU earning a score of 84.33 riding Grande.

The Frogs would fall 10-9 in a shootout. This is the fourth year in a row that TCU and OSU have matched up in the final round of the Big 12 Championship.

After the match, TCU earned an abundance of Big 12 honors. Haley Schoolfield earned Big 12 Coach of the year. TCU would also earn Rider of The Year in every event. Shea Graham in Reining, Lilly Goldstein in Flat, Ashleigh Scully in Fences along with Mattie Dukes in Horsemanship

Senior Kaitlyn Smith attributes the team’s success to how long they have been together. With 11 seniors on the roster, this has been their fourth match together in the final round of the Big 12 Championship.

“This year we have focused on not only being a team, but a family,” Smith said.

Up next, the Frogs will be looking for their first NCEA National Championship April 18-20 at the World Equestrian Center in Florida.
