TCU Rifle finished third at the NCAA Championships with a final aggregate score of 4,701; was 16 points behind the national champions, Kentucky, and seven behind second-place finisher, West Virginia.

It was the team’s third consecutive finish in the top three at the championships.

The Horned Frogs finished second in the Air Rifle competition with an aggregate score of 2,375, six points behind West Virginia.

Senior Mindy Miles and sophomore Casey Lutz both qualified for the individual finals with scores of 598 and 596, respectively.

Miles finished fifth in the individual finals with a final score of 185.5 while Lutz finished seventh with a score of 143.2

The Horned Frogs’ third-place finish wrapped up one of their most impressive statistical seasons in team history, shooting eight of the top 10 Air Rifle scores, four of the top 10 Smallbore scores, and four of the top 10 aggregate scores in program history.

They failed to shoot under 4,700 as a team once.

Head Coach Karen Monez was not present at the championships in Charleston, South Carolina after being suspended by the NCAA from the event due to a “misapplication of the standard match format” at a qualifier in Fort Worth earlier this month.

TCU Athletics has declined to comment on the suspension.

The championships marked the final matches for seniors Nicholle Benedict, Ariana Grabowski, Mindy Miles and Barrett Ray.
