Easter is less than a week away, and for students planning to stay on campus, we’ve compiled a list of events and resources for those who wish to celebrate the holiday in the DFW area.
Events
- What: Texas-Sized Easter Egg Hunt
- Where: Fort Worth Stockyards – 131 East Exchange Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76164
- When: Saturday, March 31 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Details: The egg hunt is just one of many events hosted in the Stockyards throughout the day. Other events include a cattle drive, a Texas gun fight and pictures with the Easter Bunny.
- What: 4th Annual Easter EGGstravaganza in the Park
- Where: Trinity Park – 2401 University Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76107
- When: Saturday, March 31 at 9:30 a.m.
- Details: For those who love fitness, this event features an Easter-themed 5K run for all ages or a 10K run for seasoned veterans. However, if the idea of running is daunting, there’s also the EGGstra 1 Mile Fun Run for those who would rather take a scenic walk. Registration is required.
- What: Easter Worship Services
- Where: First Presbyterian Church – 1000 Penn St., Fort Worth, TX 76102
- When: Sunday, April 1
- Details: Choose between four services throughout the day, including an outdoor Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. and regular worship at 8, 9, and 11 a.m.
- What: Passover Seder
- Where: Sonnenschein Chabad Jewish Center – 5659 Woodway Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133
- When: Friday, March 30 at 8 p.m.
- Details: Join Chabad of Fort Worth for a traditional Passover Seder. Adults: $36, Child: $18. RSVP by March 29.
- What: Easter Sunrise Service and Breakfast
- Where: Celebration Community Church – 908 Pennsylvania Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76104
- When: Sunday, April 1
- Details: The service is normally held outdoors in the Rose garden – weather permitting. This service is followed by a full breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. Come enjoy eggs, biscuits, sausage, etc. with your fellow early-morning church goers.
- What: Good Friday in the Park
- Where: Klyde Warren Park – 2012 Woodall Rodgers Fwy, Dallas, TX 75201
- When: Friday, March 30 from 5 – 7 p.m.
- Details: A free community-wide family event at Klyde Warren Park. Includes a Good Friday celebration with a concert and fun for the entire family in the heart of Downtown Dallas. Attendees can enjoy an Easter egg hunt, food trucks, and kids activities and an empowering Good Friday message from Pastor Ed Young.
Campus Resources
TCU is home to students from many different religious backgrounds, so not all students choose to acknowledge the holiday. Easter is celebrated within the Christian faith and lines up with the Jewish Passover this year. Listed below are a number of different religious organizations on campus that are open to students who wish to celebrate the holiday:
