TCU Baseball fell to 3-3 in Big 12 play after getting swept by the Oklahoma State Cowboys over the weekend.

The team lost 7-6 Friday, 12-7 Saturday, and 9-8 Sunday.

Two of the losses came on walk-offs, as Cowboys catcher Jake Taylor’s single scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning Friday and pinch runner Noah Sifrit slid past a tag at home in the bottom of the ninth to win Sunday’s game.

The Horned Frog pitching staff struggled all weekend, giving up at least seven runs in all three losses. It was a coming-out party for the Cowboys offense, who had scored more than five runs consecutively just twice this season.

Friday’s starter Jared Janczak surrendered four earned runs while Saturday starter Nick Lodolo and Sunday starter Sean Wymer each allowed five. The Horned Frogs’ many relievers used throughout the weekend combined to give up 15 earned runs.

No TCU starting pitcher has an ERA below three after the weekends drubbing.

However, despite their pitching woes, the team made every game of the series competitive due to an offense that showed no signs of slowing down after the previous weekend’s sweep of Kansas State.

The team scored at least six runs in each game, an offensive output that usually correlates to wins.

Despite the 28-21 run scoring differential, the team had five more hits than the Cowboys, illustrating its struggle to capitalize when runners were on base. The Horned Frogs have left 59 runners on base through six conference games this season.

Designated hitter Michael Landestoy continued his strong senior season, racking up six hits and bringing his team-leading batting average to .341.

First-year Adam Oviedo also continued to be a consistent presence near the bottom of the lineup for the Horned Frogs, as he had five hits and three RBI’s over the weekend.

The team will look to rebound when they travel to take on Dallas Baptist at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
