The once faculty-only parking lot east of the Moudy buildings that was opened to vehicles with commuter and non-reserved faculty and staff permits this semester is now closed to everyone.

The installation of construction fencing caused the closure.

A new parking lot was opened on Princeton Avenue in preparation for construction of the new Fine Arts building, but the now-closed lot’s proximity to the Moudy buildings was a huge convenience for many students and faculty going.

The parking lot east of the Moudy buildings is now closed for the installation of construction fencing.

“This parking lot was so nice when it was open because I could get to a night class super quick without having to walk far from my parking spot,” Claire Wright, a sophomore broadcast journalism major, said.

Wright said students could usually find a spot to park even though the lot didn’t offer a lot of spaces. Now the lot is completely blocked off by fencing.

Emily Hodnett, a sophomore communication major said fast trips to use Moudy resources are especially inconvenient since the closure.

“I often have to go to Moudy for quick printing in the photo lab,” Hodnett said. “The closing of this parking lot has made it much more difficult for quick Moudy visits.”

DeAnn Jones, an officer from parking and transportation services, said additional commuter and non-reserved faculty and staff parking is available on Merida Avenue in a newly constructed lot.

“There are various parking lot options around campus,” Jones said. “But there are some changes being made due to the construction additions.”
