The ballot for fall 2018’s Mr. and Ms. TCU is open now until April 10. Registered student organizations may nominate one Mr. and Ms. TCU applicant for consideration.

To be considered, candidates must be rising seniors who have positively contributed to campus life. The nominees complete an online application by submitting their resume and a personal essay before being accepted as an official candidate.

After careful staff consideration of their application, the finalists are chosen. These 10 men and women are then interviewed by a panel of staff and voted on by the student body.

Mr. TCU 2017 finalist Morris Herman, who was nominated by Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, said that the interview process was centered around his growth as a leader on campus, along with the impact he has made on those around him.

For Herman, being a finalist was more than just a bragging right he said.

“It was a great feeling to know that I’ve had the opportunity to shape this school as much as it’s shaped me,” Herman said.

Similarly, Ms. TCU 2017 winner Maddie Madill felt that being selected as a finalist among other student leaders was an honor in itself.

“It was such an honor to win, but it was an even bigger honor to share the experience with the other candidates,” Madill said.

Madill, who grew up in Fort Worth, was aware of the Mr. and Ms. TCU tradition from a young age, but never imagined herself receiving the title. She added that even life after the crown had more surprises.

“My sorority had a fun shout-out for me at our next chapter meeting and some professors and students I had not met before congratulated me, which I thought was super sweet,” Madill said.

The winners for next fall’s Mr. and Ms. TCU will be announced at the Homecoming game against University of Oklahoma Oct. 20.
