Head football coach Gary Patterson is set to receive the Stallings Award, the team announced Wednesday.
The recipient of the award is annually honored as a humanitarian in the community and for his excellence on the football field. Dr. Pepper honors each winner as a tribute to retired University of Alabama coach Gene Stallings and those who triumph no matter the circumstances.
The proceeds from the award banquet benefit The Rise Schools, which give disabled students the educational and social foundation to become “contributing members of society.”
Patterson, the nation’s second-longest tenured head coach, is TCU’s all-time winningest head coach with 160 wins and a winning percentage of .737. He has totaled 20 Coach of the Year titles, conference championships in three different conferences, 10 11-win seasons over the past 15 years, and 18 bowl games in 20 years.
Patterson places a high priority on graduation and TCU’s graduation rate been honored as one of the nation’s leaders in eight of the past 10 seasons, contributing even more to Patterson’s excellence both on and off the field.

Tennis players get academic honors
Seven members of the TCU tennis teams were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team released Tuesday afternoon.
For the men’s, Alastair Gray, Alex Rybakov and Reese Stalder earned First Team honors while Guillermo Nuñez was named to the Second Team. This is the second time each of these four athletes has earned Academic All-Big 12 honors.
For the women’s, Marie Norris and Aleksandra Zenovka were First Team selections, and Alexis Pereira was named to the Second Team. This is the third consecutive year Zenovka has been named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, and the second time Norris and Pereira have earned a selection.
Both the men and women will play in the Big 12 Championship in Austin, Texas this weekend. The men earned the No. 1 seed and have a first-round bye before opening play against the winner of Oklahoma State vs Baylor Saturday, Apr. 28 at noon. The women beat West Virginia 5-1, in Thursday’s opening round. They face No. 6 Texas today.

Oklahoma takes the trophy in Big 12 men’s golf
The Big 12 Tournament concluded Wednesday afternoon in rainy conditions at Southern Hills Golf Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
TCU finished with a score of 301 as a team on the day, well over their scores of the previous three days, largely due to the weather conditions.
Junior Turner MacLean led the way for the Frogs once again, shooting 2-over, while also leading TCU with a 9-over score for the tournament.
Fellow junior David Rodetto shot 3-over on the day, but it was Stefano Mazzoli who was most impacted by the poor weather, as he shot 8-over par after entering the day in 11th place in the tournament.
The Oklahoma Sooners took home the trophy, going 19-0ver as a team over the weekend, and were followed by Oklahoma State, who finished 27-over.
The individual winner finished in a 4-way tie between Kansas State’s Jeremy Gandon, Texas’ Doug Ghim, Oklahoma’s Grant Hirschman and Oklahoma State’s Kristoffer Ventura, who all shot 3-over for the tournament.
