TCU’s five-match win streak came to an end on Friday as they lost a hard-fought battle with Kansas 3-1 (28-30, 27-25, 25-21, 25-21). The loss drops the Frogs to 0-5 on the road.

TCU started the game firing on all cylinders as an offense. Their 18 first kills in the opening set led to a quick set point. After a short run by the Jayhawks, strong defense at the net by middle blockers Katie Clark and Sarah Swanson sealed the victory for the Frogs. Clark and Swanson each finished with five blocks in the match.

TCU’s strong offense, led by outside hitter Élan McCall, forced another set point in the second set. However, a strong run by the Jayhawks was too much for the Frogs, and they lost the second set 27-25.

McCall finished the match with 19 kills, extending her streak of games with double-digit kills to 13, tying a TCU record set by Anna Vaughn in 2005.

TCU was not able to handle the strong runs put together by Kansas in the third and fourth set, dropping to 1-1 in conference play.

Defensive specialist Dani Dennison and outside hitter Lexi MacLean each had 14 digs in the match to lead the Frogs on defense.

After a bye this Wednesday, the Frogs will go on the road again Sept. 29 to play Kansas State. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
