The first seafood-focused restaurant floated to the TCU area and replaced Salsa Limón’s previous location on University Drive.
Shep’s Off the Hook Seafood, also known as Shep’s Place, found its way to campus by having connections with the former owners of Salsa Limón.
Co-owners Jennifer and John Shepherd opened the restaurants Saltwater and the original Shep’s Place in their home of Weatherford, Texas, where they experienced success with seafood dishes and gourmet burgers.
“We want this to be a hangout space,” John Shepherd said.
The restaurant will show major sports games, have heaters added to the patio and borrowable board games to play when waiting for food.
Food specials will be a regular option and the Shepherds have taken food allergies, gluten intolerances and special orders very seriously. Weekly alcohol specials like “Champagne Tuesdays” and “Wine Wednesdays” will also be included.
The Shepherds have a strong military connection, with John Shepherd’s father serving in the armed forces. They will dedicate a bulletin board for veterans or loved ones of vets to post pictures of those who served and will offer 50 percent discounts to active duty, veterans and first responders.
