Students with a bit of free time can be involved in the midterm elections and get paid.

H & Co. Strategies, a Republican consulting company in Fort Worth, is offering $10 an hour for people to act as poll workers during early voting and Election Day, Nov. 6.

Poll workers are present during voting to tell voters about the candidates they are representing and learn through experience about election laws.

“Together we have successfully run close to 50 races over the past two years at all levels of public office,” said Mikenley Heller, Organization Director at the Republican Party of Texas.

Heller said poll workers are essential in election cycles like this one. “When you have all the attention at the top of the ballot, like the Cruz/Beto race, that leaves people not paying attention to the down-ballot races as much,” she said.

“It opens your eyes to the countless hours and dollars people spend to win elections and get elected into public office,” Heller said.
