In a match-up with one of the Big 12’s most high-flying offenses, TCU basketball shot just 45.7 percent from the field, falling to No. 16 Texas Tech 84-65.

The Red Raiders shot 54.2 percent as a team and got 68 of their 84 points from their starting five. Guards Matt Mooney and Jarrett Culver led the way for Texas Tech with 18 points each.

After guard Kouat Noi led the Horned Frogs to an early lead, the Red Raiders exploded, nailing seven shots from behind the arc and taking a 43-27 lead at halftime.

Noi finished with 17 points and a steal. This was his 18th-straight game to connect on a shot from deep.

Despite their deficit, TCU did not give up, climbing within 10 at one-point midway through the half. The comeback effort was largely due to guard Desmond Bane, who, after going 0-for-4 in the first half, went 5-for-7 for 13 points in the second half to give the Horned Frogs life.

Bane’s offensive production was not enough though, as the Red Raiders shot 61.5 percent in the second half and cruised to an easy victory.

Center Kevin Samuel poured in 10 points and 12 rebounds, making the contest the first time TCU has lost this season when the redshirt freshman records a double-double.

Not only were the Horned Frogs out-rebounded for just the fourth time this season (31-28), but they also had a season-low nine assists

TCU will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they travel to Waco, Texas, to face Baylor. Tip-off against the Bears is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
