The potholes, road-signs and confusion are gone.
Bluebonnet Circle, just south of TCU off South University Drive, is one-step closer to being transformed into an urban village. City plans call for a mix of jobs, public spaces, transportation connections and pedestrian activity. In the coming months, developers are expected to add 270 residential units north of the circle.
The year-long project that saw the roundabout turned into a construction zone for 2018 added new sidewalks, parking lot expansions, repaved lanes and driveways and replaced existing water and sewer lines.
“We’re all glad the construction is over with,” said the manager of Fort Worth iPhone Repairs, Clint Taylor. “But our roads in front of the shop are still not done up and people seem to be avoiding the circle.”
Students living on and off-campus were affected by the 12 months of construction. Senior psychology major Abbie Greive, who works at Tan 2 Glow, said it was a hassle to travel to work and that her car was often coated with debris from the construction.
“It was really frustrating to be going from class to work and only have a limited amount of time and be delayed every day by the construction and I’d end up being late to work,” said Greive. “Now that it’s cleaned up, it’s made my commute better, but my car is still off-colored because of all the dirt stirred around.”
The ongoing work will continue in the coming months to add 270 residential units north of the circle.
