Oscars: Where to watch each Best Picture nominee ahead of Sunday’s show

The 91st Academy Awards are right around the corner. In case you might have missed watching a few of the Best Picture nominees, here’s a rundown on where they can be found.

“A Star is Born”

The third reinterpretation of this classic tells the tale of rock star Jackson who meets struggling musician Ally. Together embark on a journey of highs and lows of love, music and fame.

Directed by: Bradley Cooper

Starring: Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, Sam Elliott

Also nominated for: Best Actor (Bradley Cooper), Best Actress (Lady Gaga), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Elliott), Best Original Song (“Shallow”), Best Sound Mixing, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

Where to watch it: Rave Cinemas at Ridgmar Mall have a special screening of the film tonight. It’s also out DVD, but you can buy or rent it online through iTunes.

“BlacKkKlansman”

Based on the true story of Ron Stallworth, an African American police officer in Colorado who infiltrates the local chapter of the KKK with the help of his Jewish partner Flip Zimmerman.

Directed by: Spike Lee

Starring: John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, Topher Grace

Also nominated for: Best Supporting Actor (Adam Driver), Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Original Score.

Where to watch it: The film is available on DVD and can also be streamed online on Amazon, iTunes and Fandango. Rave Cinemas at Ridgmar Mall will have a special screening of the film Sunday.

“Black Panther”

The first superhero film nominated for Best Picture follows the story of T’Challa, the young king of Wakanda, who must face an enemy that challenges his right to the throne.

Directed by: Ryan Coogler

Starring: Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker

Also nominated for: Best Original Score, Best Original Song (“All the Stars”), Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

“Bohemian Rhapsody”

Based on the true story of Freddie Mercury and the rise of the famous British band Queen.

Directed by: Bryan Singer, Dexter Fletcher

Starring: Rami Malek, Gwilym Lee, Lucy Boynton

“Green Book”

Based on the true story of Italian-American Tony who becomes the driver for Dr. Don Shirley, an African-American musician, throughout a tour of the deep South in the 1960s.

Directed by: Peter Farrelly

Starring: Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali, Linda Cardellini

“Roma”

A semi-autobiographical film, the story follows Cleo, a domestic worker, and the family she works for in Mexico City in the early 1970s.

“The Favourite”

Set in early 18th century England, Lady Sarah and her cousin Abigail compete for the attention of Queen Anne.

“Vice”

Based on the true story of former vice president Dick Cheney, his politics and his work alongside former president George W. Bush.
