The effort to add to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to the core advanced Thursday with support from 77 percent of faculty who voted.
The vote, which stretched from Tuesday morning through noon Thursday was 406 for, 101 against and 17 abstaining.
A committee will be assigned to address how this should be implemented.
The Faculty Senate Executive Committee will bring in representation from all schools and colleges by the end of the semester.
The committee’s final project will be voted on by the Faculty Assembly next year.
