There are 18 former Horned Frogs on NFL rosters this season, including five starters and numerous special teams contributors.

Here’s a look at how the former Frogs have faired through four weeks of the season.

Ben Banogu, Indianapolis Colts defensive end

Banogu started his NFL career on a high note, recording a half sack in his very first game. Since then, he has accumulated four tackles, including two in the Week 4 against the Raiders.

Banogu has played 27% of the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive snaps and 5% of their special teams snaps.

The rookie has recorded two or more tackles in each of the last two games, and he will look to continue the streak against the Chiefs this week on Sunday Night Football.

Marcus Cannon, New England Patriots offensive tackle

Cannon has started in three of the Patriots’ first four games. After missing the second week with a shoulder injury, he will start for the remainder of the season.

The nine-year veteran is a part of a Patriots’ offensive line that has allowed the fourth-fewest sacks in the NFL.

Josh Carraway, Los Angeles Rams linebacker

The three-year NFL veteran was signed by the Los Angeles Rams in May but suffered a season-ending achilles injury in the preseason.

A high ankle sprain in the off-season and the addition of defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has kept the first round pick on the bench for most of the early season.

Collier has played 14% of Seattle’s defensive snaps and recorded one tackle this season.

The 29th pick in the 2019 NFL draft was a healthy scratch against the Rams on Thursday night.

In Week 3, Seahawks headcoach Pete Carroll spoke about the decision to have Collier be a healthy scratch.

“He’s just so new,” Carroll said. “He had a good opportunity last week because of the numbers on the roster and all that. We’re just trying to work him back up. We’re taking a look at guys.”

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback

The former Rose Bowl champion has had a productive season despite playing behind one of the statistically worst offensive lines in the league.

Dalton is seventh in the league in passing yards with 1,150 yards through four games but has the sixth lowest QBR among qualified quarterbacks.

The Bengals are still searching for their first victory of the season, and they’ll look to secure it this week against the 0-3-1 Arizona Cardinals.

“We’re trying to find a way to win,” Dalton said. “I think that’s what it comes down to. To have two road games to be close the way we had been, close isn’t good enough though. For us, we’re not satisfied with anything. Yeah, there’s some good things we can take away but you’ve got to make the plays that are going to allow you to win these games and in these three we haven’t done that. “

Josh Doctson, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver

The Mansfield native spent his first three years in the league with the Washington Redskins but signed with the Minnesota Vikings in September.

Doctson was placed on injured reserved in early September because of a hamstring injury, and Doctson is projected to return in Week 10 when the Vikings travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys.

Travin Howard, Los Angeles Rams linebacker

Howard is listed as the second-string inside linebacker on the Los Angeles Rams’ depth chart and hasn’t seen much action on the defensive side of the ball, but he has played in 75 snaps this season for the Rams on special teams.

In Howard’s 76 total snaps played this season, he has recorded four total tackles.

Jerry Hughes, Buffalo Bills defensive end

Hughes has been a staple on the Buffalo Bills’ front seven since 2013, and he is a key reason why they rank second in yards allowed per game this season.

The edge rusher has recorded 1.5 sacks and eight total tackles through four games this season.

Hughes ranks sixth on the Bills career sack leaders with 43.5 recorded sacks with the team. With another strong season, he will look to gain entrance into the top five by surpassing former Bills’ defensive tackle Kyle Williams (48.5 sacks).

Joey Hunt, Seattle Seahawks center

Hunt has seen limited action this year with the Seattle Seahawks, recording just eight total snaps this season.

Colin Jones, Carolina Panthers safety

Jones has spent the last eight years with the Carolina Panthers, and he has been a mainstay on their special teams unit for years.

Jones was named a team captain by Panthers head coach Ron Rivera for the second-straight season.

Jones has played 100 snaps this season on special teams, and he’s recorded one total tackle through four games.

Derrick Kindred, New York Jets safety

Kindred spent his first three seasons in the league with the Browns, but he was acquired on waivers by the New York Jets this August.

The former fourth round pick totaled 148 tackles and two interceptions in his first three years in the league but has yet to see the field this season with the Jets.

Marshall Newhouse, New England Patriots offensive tackle

Newhouse is one of two Horned Frogs starting on the offensive lines for the New England Patriots.

The former Frog started the year on the bench, but a toe injury to Isiah Wynn thrust Newhouse into the starting line-up.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick spoke about Newhouse stepping up for the injured Wynn after the patriots week two victory over the Miami Dolphins.

“Marshall (Newhouse) and Korey (Cunningham) really stepped up and that’s what we have depth for,” Belichick said. “We had to use it today. It was a tough day out there, but they battled through it.”

Newhouse currently starts opposite of Cannon at left tackle. Newhouse and Cannon are part of a line that has allowed the sixth-fewest quarterback hits in the league.

Joseph Noteboom, Los Angeles Rams offensive guard

In only his second year in the league, Noteboom has already become a staple for Los Angeles Rams’ offensive line.

Noteboom has started 100% of the Rams’ offensive snaps this season, and he is a key part of an offensive unit that ranks in the top-five in yards per game.

The Los Angeles Rams offensive line coach, Aaron Kromer, was emphatic in his praise for the former Horned Frog before the season started.

“We were jumping for joy when he [Joseph Noteboom] was there in the third [round] and he’s performed at higher level than that,” Kromer said.

Matt Pryor, Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle

The 206th pick in the 2019 NFL draft hasn’t seen much action this year for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pryor is the backup left guard for the Eagles this year and has played in four snaps this season, all on special teams.

Austin Schlottmann, Denver Broncos left guard

Schlottmann came to the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Schlottmann played on the practice squad last season and has been elevated to the 53-man roster this year.

Schlottmann is listed as the backup left guard for the Broncos this season and has seen limited action on the field, registering 15 snaps on the year.

Ty Summers, Green Bay Packers linebacker

After an illustrious career at TCU that saw Summers rack up over 315 tackles, the Green Bay Packers spent their 226th pick on him.

Summers made the official 53-man roster after registering an impressive preseason where he recorded over 30 tackles and a 74-yard pick-six.

In the regular season, Summers has been a staple for the Green Bay Packers special teams unit. Summers has played 70 snaps this season, and he has recorded a tackle in three of his first four career games.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle

Vaitai is listed as the backup right guard and right tackle for the Eagles this season.

Due to injury, the former Frog and 2017 Super Bowl champion has been called into action.

Vaitai has played in 48 offensive snaps in relief this season.

Jason Verrett, San Francisco 49ers defensive back

Verrett has continued to suffer with injuries this season.

The former first-round pick suffered a torn achilles in August of last year but was signed by the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason in hopes of him returning to his Pro Bowl play.

Verrett has played sparingly this season after suffering an ankle sprain in the off-season and was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.

49ers head coach, Kyle Shanahan said that Verrett is definitely a candidate for short-term IR. This designation would allow him to return to action by Week 12.
