A new restaurant is opening on University Drive this week.

Dutch’s Burrito Bar will serve as the newest addition to the row of restaurants along the strip south of TCU.

The Tex-Mex restaurant will give students another option for breakfast, lunch and dinner within walking distance from campus.

For breakfast, they will be serving breakfast tacos and build-your-own parfaits, with hopes to expand to more options in the future. They will have a full menu for lunch and dinner including tacos, burritos and salads.

Many students are excited about the new restaurant to finally be opened.

“I am really glad they put tacos back on campus; there’s not really anywhere close to campus that sells them,” said A’Lyssa Cunningham, a junior social work major.

Kay Greenlee, the owner of Dutch’s Burrito Bar, said she and her partners have always discussed expanding to tacos and burritos.

“My partner has experience in the burrito and taco business, so it just seemed like a good fit,” Greenlee said.

The restaurant gave away free burritos and breakfast tacos during their soft opening Oct. 21. Greenlee was not expecting quite a large crowd to have come in for the soft opening but said they served around 300 people.

“That’s the power of social media,” Greenlee said. “I handed out cards inviting some of our regular customers and friends, but this morning I started pulling people in. Students then got out their phones and were posting that there were free breakfast tacos at Dutch’s.”

During the soft opening Daniel Duplan, a senior mechanical engineering major, said the restaurant seemed to be full, but they worked fast.

“I think it will be a great addition,” Duplan said. “First of all, it brings back a Tex-Mex option to the strip on University since Salsa Limon left. Second, it’s fast and easy to get on the go, so another great deal for the fast-paced college life.”

While being connected to Dutch’s Hamburgers, there is also an outdoor patio with seating for students both to study and enjoy their meal.

Greenlee saw the lack of seating in the other restaurants that previously held the location and she wanted to make sure this location wasn’t lacking in any seating.

Guests can eat in any part of the restaurant and at any of the patios in the back.

Dutch’s Burrito Bar will be serving breakfast from 7-11 a.m. and lunch Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. They will be open later on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
