Severe weather leaves damage in North Texas
North Texas residents awoke to widespread damage Monday after a night of severe weather.
A tornado touched down near the Dallas Love Field Airport just after 9 p.m with top winds estimated at 111 mph.
Many houses, businesses and other buildings in the area were damaged in the storm, and about 130,000 residents lost power.
As of now, reports indicate only 6 people have been injured and none have been reported dead from the weather, according to CBS DFW.
Other areas that were severely damaged from the storm include Richardson and Midlothian.
Trump to abandon hosting G-7
President Trump is no longer hosting next year’s Group of Seven summit at his private golf club in Miami after receiving backlash from a number of Republican lawmakers.
Trump’s opponents sharply criticized his desire to host the G-7, pointing to it as another example of Trump using his position as president for personal benefit.
The announcement to host the summit comes in the midst of the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Trump and his administration’s actions with Ukraine.
The president said on Twitter that he rescinded the offer to host the summit due to anger from the “Do Nothing Democrats/Fake News Anger.”
Two bodies still missing in the Hard Rock Hotel debris
Crews have begun searching for two bodies that remain in the debris of the Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans.
Three people died and 30 were injured after part of the hotel collapsed on Oct. 12. Two cranes that had been obstructing the search were demolished Sunday, opening the door to finding the remaining two bodies.
Complete demolition of the Hard Rock will be in effect after search teams locate the other two bodies in the debris.
Kurdish Commander fears more danger after US withdrawal
Kurdish Commander Mazlum Kobani fears that the withdrawal of the US Military in Syria will endanger his people, according to the New York Times.
“There will be ethnic cleansing of the Kurdish people from Syria, and the American administration will be responsible for it,” Kobani said.
The amount of time and number of troops that the United States will withdrawal from Syria is still unclear.
