The TCU Police Department and a SWAT team talked an individual down from the bleachers of Amon G. Carter Stadium after he threatened to jump Sunday night.
The individual was standing at one of the corners at the very top of the stadium. Police communicated with him from a few bleachers away. After a little over an hour, the individual walked down, and police helped escort him from the stadium.
Police declined to comment on how they got word of the situation.
Vice Chancellor for Students Affairs Kathy Cavins-Tull acknowledged the incident in a campus-wide email.
Prior to the issue being resolved, she sent:
“The University’s Campus Police and the Fort Worth Police Department are actively managing a situation involving an individual inside TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium. At this time, there is no threat to the campus community or surrounding neighborhood. No further information is available at this time.”
A few moments after the individual was safe, she sent another campus-wide email that said:
“The incident in the Amon G Carter stadium is resolved and everyone is safe. Thank you to the TCU Police Department and the Fort Worth Police and Fire Departments and Medstar for their good work.”
