Led by Jaycee Bradley and Lauren Heard, TCU women’s basketball beat the Auburn Tigers 80-65 Saturday afternoon in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
Bradley scored a season-high 24 points with five three-pointers made, while Heard had 21 points and a season-high 10 rebounds.
“This was a game where I feel like there were a lot of moments with different players making big impacts for stretches,” said head coach Raegan Pebley.
The Horned Frogs started off strong, taking a nine-point lead over the Tigers in the first quarter. Auburn would bounce back, though, tying the game at 24.
After Auburn then went on a 13-2 run, TCU scored 14 straight points to go into halftime leading 44-31.
In the third quarter, the Horned Frogs outscored Auburn 20-16 and took a 17-point lead going into the final quarter.
TCU led by as many as 25 points midway through the fourth quarter and was able to close out the game with a 15-point victory.
The Horned Frogs made a season-high 23 free throws, while also netting a season-best 69.7% from the line. Heard led the way with a 10-for-10 effort from the charity stripe.
With the win, TCU moves to 7-0 on the season and will look to continue to stay undefeated as they travel to College Station to face off against Texas A&M on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
