TCU volleyball saw their season end on Saturday as they fell 3-1 to Georgia Tech in the NIVC semifinals.

It was the Frogs’ second time in three years to reach the semifinals of the event.

Middle blocker Katie Clark and outside hitter Julia Adams led TCU with 12 kills each in the loss.

The first set was intense, seeing five ties. After Georgia Tech took an early lead, five kills in the set from Adams alone helped get TCU back in it.

The Frogs pulled within one late in the set, but the Yellow Jackets scored the last four points to win 25-20 and take a 1-0 match lead.

Despite a poor start and an intense home crowd for Georgia Tech, TCU wasn’t going home without a fight. The Frogs popped off on an early 8-1 run to take a large lead that they would hold until the end.

TCU won the set 25-19 to tie the match at one set apiece. Middle blocker Sarah Swanson was sensational with five blocks in the set.

From there, the Yellow Jackets took over with authority. The third set was nothing short of a massacre, as Georgia Tech started on a 13-1 run that would translate into a 25-8 set win.

Nevertheless, TCU showed more fight in the fourth set, falling just short. The set saw fourteen ties and five lead changes, with the teams scrapping and clawing for every point.

Georgia Tech would end the set on a 3-0 run to win 25-23 and move on the the NIVC finals.

Outside hitter Ashley Waggle posted nine kills in her final game in for TCU.

The Frogs finish the season at 12-18 overall and 4-12 in Big 12 play.

With just two seniors on the active roster, TCU anticipates significant improvement over the offseason for a team that will see the majority of its key players return in the 2020 season.
