Senior middle fielder Yazmeen Ryan scored her second goal of the season, and the No.12 Horned Frogs remained undefeated on the season with a 1-0 win over Iowa State on Friday night.
TCU dominated from the jump, outshooting the Cyclones 15-3 in the first half. Gracie Brian and Messiah Bright both had shots early on in the contest, which forced the Cyclone goalie to make diving saves.
“I thought the first half was fantastic. Really good with the speed of play; we were defending and buzzing,” TCU head coach Eric Bell said. “We won the midfield battle and if we can win the midfield, we can typically win the game. I thought we were really dangerous in the final third, getting some good looks.”
Ryan got the Frogs on the board after she was tripped in the box, forcing a penalty kick. The goal was the 10th game-winning goal of the senior’s career.
Iowa State came out strong to start the second half, outshooting the Horned Frogs 9-3. Goalie Emily Alvarado was tested multiple times but never cracked.

“We didn’t play the best second. We weren’t very sharp. We came out a little flat and that cost us,” Bell said. “Looking at the stats, they are drastically different between the first half and the second half. It was the energy and effort that was lacking.”
The Horned Frogs move to 2-0-1 on the season with the victory. For the first time since 2018, TCU has tallied three straight shutouts to open the season.
Next, TCU will hit the road to take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Friday, Oct. 9.
