Senior guard Lauren Heard scored a career-high in points on Saturday afternoon, but that was not enough for TCU as they fell to the West Virginia Mountaineers 79-70.

After 12 lead changes in the first half, West Virginia went into halftime leading 38-35.

The Mountaineers went on a 10-0 run and outscored the Horned Frogs 18-10 in the third period despite shooting just 30% in the quarter.

TCU would come out strong to start the fourth quarter and came within six points of West Virginia, trailing 63-57 at one point. The Mountaineers would then go on a 6-2 run to extend the lead to double digits.

West Virginia’s Kysre Gondrezick scored 16 points in the second half to push the Mountaineers to win.

TCU is now 5-15 all-time against the Mountaineers and 3-6 when facing West Virginia at home.
