Down by as many as 20-points, TCU could not complete a fourth-quarter comeback against the Texas Longhorns as the team fell 69-60.

“There was a definite fight within that game to not give up, not give in and to keep continuing to pursue our best selves,” head coach Raegan Pebley said. 

In the first quarter, the Longhorns went on a 13-0 run and would go up 21-6. During that run, TCU went four minutes without scoring a point.

“That first quarter really hurt us and took a little bit to reset from,” Pebley said.

The first of two 20-point leads for the Longhorns came in the second quarter and was led by Charli Collier, Joanne Allen-Taylor, Celeste Taylor and Audrey Warren.

Collier had 11 points in the first half followed by Taylor having 10 points and Allen-Taylor having 9. Warren led the way in rebounds with 10 just in the first half.

TCU would close out the first half by going on a 7-0 run and hitting 4 out of 5 of their final shots in the quarter. Both Lauren Heard and Tavy Diggs had eight points in the first half.

UT would only outscore TCU by two in the third quarter and went into the final quarter of play with an 18-point lead. 

To open up the fourth quarter, TCU went on a 14-0 run to pull within 10 points and a clutch lay-up by Heard would put the Frogs within eight.

“We definitely got aggressive [during the 14-0 run] and I think we caused them into some hesitation moments which led to turnovers and bad decisions which we were able to capitalize on,” Pebley said.

In the end, the Frogs would fall short in their comeback and finish the regular season with a 9-14 record.

Up next for the Horned Frogs is the Big 12 Conference tournament, which runs from March 11 through March 14. TCU will be facing the Kansas State Wildcats and will either be the No. 8 or No.9 seed
