The main message from the TCU coaching staff to the team heading into the season opener against Colorado is two simple words: be ready.

Head Coach Sonny Dykes and senior wide receiver Taye Barber spoke to the media on Monday morning and emphasized the point of utilizing several players in various areas.

“We’re going to rotate a lot of guys for sure, they have been telling us all week that people better get ready because a lot of people are going to get in the game […] they may not have played in years past but they better get ready because we’re going to rotate a lot of guys in,” said Barber.

Coming off fall camp, Dykes informed the team that up to 60 players could see the field this week against the Buffaloes. Among the players to receive time will be all three quarterbacks: freshman Chandler Morris, senior Max Duggan and freshman Sam Jackson.

There is still no word on who the starting quarterback will be. Dykes has made it clear that he will be giving each player a fair shot on Friday.

“It’s a fun group, I like the guys a lot and they all bring different elements to the room. I would anticipate all three of them playing and my expectation is all three of them play well,” said Dykes.

Come Friday night, the receiving core and the rest of the offense feel comfortable and confident playing with whichever player the coaching staff decides to start.

“They all run the offense in their own ways & bring different things to the table […] they’re all positive and we will make sure they’re right no matter who is in the game, that’s our job as the offense,” said Barber.

The Horned Frogs will face off against Colorado in the 2022 season opener on Friday, Sept. 2 at 9 p.m.
