TCU women’s basketball trying to continue win streak against Incarnate Word Cardinals

The TCU Women’s Basketball program has started the 2023 season with a bang, earning the program’s first 3-0 start to a season in four years, and they look to extend their record to 4-0 against the (1-1) Cardinals.

The Frogs are looking to stay undefeated to open the season and start 4-0 for the first time in four years. Incarnate Word is the school they’ll have to best to achieve the feat.

The Frogs are coming off a 67-42 win Sunday afternoon against Rice and had contributors like Madison Conner and Sedona Prince.

Both recorded double-doubles and were led with a combined 37 points behind Conner and Sedona Prince.

After dropping 30 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in her first career double-double against Oral Roberts, Conner went on to add 19 points and 11 rebounds against Rice. This performance led to her being named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday, becoming the seventh Horned Frog in program history to reach this accomplishment.

Conner averaged 24 points, nine rebounds, and five 3-pointers during the opening week and leads the NCAA in 3-pointers (15) and ranks third nationally in total points with 71.

Prince, a transfer from Oregon, is leading the NCAA with three double-doubles. It would be hard to tell that she has not played basketball in a year and a half prior to the start of the season.

The Incarnate Word Cardinals are entering this matchup fresh off a close loss against the New Mexico State Aggies, 59-52. At halftime, the Cardinals trailed by five points. They made a strong comeback by adding 27 more points, but their efforts fell short against the 29 points scored by the Aggies.

Leading the Cardinals was Molly Kaiser, who contributed 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Sabou Gueye followed closely with 13 points, three rebounds, and one assist.

The Frogs will host their annual Field Trip Day promotion for the second consecutive year against UIW this afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. in the Schollmaier Arena.
