TCU women’s basketball faces Army in 5th Maggie Dixon Classic

The 4-0 Horned Frogs will face the 1-3 Army Black Knights during the 17th Maggie Dixon Classic, which honors the legacy of former head coach and the younger sister of TCU men’s basketball head coach, Jamie Dixon.

The Frogs are coming off a win over the Incarnate Word Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon, marking the first time in four years the program has started the season 4-0.

While it wasn’t their prettiest basketball performance, as Incarnate Word was able to keep it a close game, the Frogs got the job done. Sedona Prince scored a career-high of 26 points, with 20 of those points coming in the second half. Madison Conner also scored in double figures, finishing with 17 points. Prince and Conner rank second and sixth in the Big 12 in points.

Army is coming into today’s matchup after their third loss to Air Force, 83-61, on Friday night. Air Force and Army had a back-and-forth game in the first half and went into the locker room tied at 35-35. The Falcons came out of halftime early to get shots up, setting the tone for the game to go their way in the second half. Air Force outscored Army by 19 points in the third quarter to secure the victory.

Army forward Fiona Hastick put up 12 points, four rebounds and one assist. Guard Trinity Hardy added 12 points, five rebounds and one assist. Kya Smith crashed the glass and led in rebounds with seven.

TCU will need to get off to a quick start in the matchup to secure a dominant first-half lead going into halftime. These two teams will go head-to-head in the Schollmaier Arena. Tip-off is at 1 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
