TCU Elite Dance is raising $45,000 to travel to Orlando, Florida for The College Classic, a national competition featuring dance teams from across the nation.

The team has a variety of ways for people contribute. In addition to accepting donations, it had a clothing website that offered branded merchandise ranging from hoodies and footwear to water bottles.

The team plans to dance to “This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush. It chose a lyrical song rather than a contemporary song in an effort to stand out from other teams, Grace Markos, a team member, said.

She said the goal this year achieving unison and perfecting its technique.

The team practices twice a week for two hours. During the week, the members also practice alone to work on their endurance and clean up their moves.

“The cleaner the routine, the better we will be in comparison to last year,” Markos said. “We have also worked harder in the pre-season to get our technique and conditioning in check so we can excel with the routine.”

The team schedules Sunday workshops to go over its routines.

Markos and fellow team member, Mckenna Perez, said the team is excited and nervous for April.

The members said they want to make sure their hard work is left on the dance floor.

“I am so proud of our work ethic, and I know we are going to go out there and kill it,” said Perez.
