Trump ‘hush-money’ trial set for March
New York Justice Juan M. Merchan rejected former President Donald Trump’s bid to throw out the Manhattan district attorney’s criminal charges, setting a trial date for March 25, according to the New York Times.
The trial will mark the first time a former president will be tried in a criminal case as Trump is accused of disguising payments to a porn star, according to the Times report.
Merchan also denied Trump’s request to hold a hearing to investigate the claims that he’s been prosecuted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the media leaks during the proceedings of the 34-count indictment, CNN reported.
Israeli forces enter a hospital in Gaza

The Israeli military raided the largest functioning hospital in Gaza in search of Hamas fighters and the bodies of hostages, according to the New York Times.
The hospital in the city of Khan Younis was rocked by explosions and gunfire before the predawn raid, killing and wounding at least one doctor and a patient, according to the New York Times.
People who sought shelter in the hospital were forced to flee.
A video, verified by The New York Times, showed the damage to the hospital and the injured people.
Two days before the raid, Israeli forces surrounded the hospital and told inhabitants over loudspeakers to evacuate.
Caitlin Clark breaks NCAA women’s basketball scoring record

Caitlin Clark broke the NCAA women’s basketball career scoring record, scoring the first eight points of the Iowa Hawkeyes’ game against the Michigan Wolverines Thursday night, according to CBS News.
Clark passed Kelsey Plum’s 3,527-point mark, breaking the record on a deep three-pointer just 2:15 into the game, according to the Washington Post.
Iowa called a timeout to celebrate the record and the Hawkeyes’ coach, Lisa Blunder, planted a kiss on Clark’s cheek as she returned to the huddle, the Post reported.
