No matter their relationship status, every student attending the second annual Build-Your-Own-Bouquet event on Valentine’s Day received flowers.
Students filled the Market Square entry, whether by themselves or in groups, waiting to create their bouquets. Junior Jonathan Stokx who attended said he used the event as an “opportunity to have a chance to surprise my girlfriend with a nice bouquet.”
Students could use up to three stems and embellishments, including TCU-themed Valentine’s Day cards, to create their bouquets.
The TCU CARE and SURS teams co-sponsored the event, coming together to “bring joy.”
“We want students to know they are loved and valued and to provide some education on the ways they can be healthy and safe, too,” Leah Carnahan, assistant director at TCU CARE offices, said.
Pamphlets with healthy Valentine’s tips were created by the TCU CARE and SURS team and handed out at the event. The tips encourage consent, respect, trust, love and fun.
The TCU CARE and SURS offices offer campus advocacy, resources, education and substance use and recovery services for students across the campus. Their offices provide support to students impacted by sexual harassment, assault, domestic violence, stalking and more.
