Tammy Murphy drops out of Senate race
Tammy Murphy, the wife of New Jersey governor Phil Murphy, announced in a video posted on social media Sunday that she was ending her run for a U.S. Senate seat.
Murphy was endorsed early on by Democratic Party leaders, but struggled to gain support among voters, according to the New York Times.
Before making the final decision and notifying her campaign staff, Murphy held a meeting with county Democratic Party leaders Sunday afternoon.
“With Donald Trump on the ballot and so much at stake for our nation, I will not in good conscience waste resources tearing down a fellow Democrat,” she said.
Israel agrees to U.S. proposal on prisoner-hostage exchange
Israel has agreed to a U.S. proposal of a prisoner-hostage exchange that would release roughly 700 Palestinian prisoners, according to CNN.
The proposal is now awaiting a response from Hamas, which could take up to three days.
Israel denied Hamas’ last proposal regarding the release 700 to 1,000 Palestinian prisoners earlier this month.
If the release takes place, it is expected to be carried out in phases, with women, the elderly, sick and wounded released first.
