Kirk Saarloos led TCU baseball to a win over the University of Houston, which was the 100th win as head coach of the program.
His passion for “building his team with integrity” helped them to win the game and “complete a milestone,” said Kirk Saarloos TCU head baseball coach.
Saarloos has been head coach at TCU for three years and focuses his leadership role on “emotional intelligence instead of just coaching.”
“The athletes have a lot on their plate, so we focus on how we can help them be the most confident on and off the field,” said Saarloos.
Saarloos describes his coaching style as “laid-back, but there are aspects that I take very seriously.”
“I find it important to uphold the players and guide them to reach maximum self-excellence and integrity,” he said.
Saarloos holds firm on the idea that, “we can’t do what we do without players and support staff.” He finds his 100th win to be a product of all of the people that are apart of the baseball program, and the people that support throughout the season.
Throughout Saarloos’ years coaching his main philosophy comes from “having the players emotions first and the rest after that.” He then states, “you have to make sure you handle a bunch of different emotions as a leader–with the players off and on the bench.”
This tactic helped Saarloos to create a strong program and confident team.
With his 100th win in the bag, Saarloos will continue to work to attain milestones with his team and fellow staff.
