TCU women’s soccer kicked off the season with back-to-back wins against Alabama and Charlotte, shutting out both with a final score of 3-0. After two matches, many Frogs have netted their first career goals and game appearances.
TCU faced the Crimson Tide on home turf at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium on Aug. 15. Players Evie Baker, Sarah Bonnecaze, Morgan Brown, Abigail Cox, Elly Harrington, Blake Hodgson, Ainsley Moy and Cameron Patton made their collegiate debut at the season opener and first home game. After a scoreless 20 minutes, forward Caroline Kelly got one passed Alabama’s goalkeeper, assisted by Sara Brocious. The next two goals were scored by senior Lauren Memoly and junior AJ Hennessey.
Traveling to Charlotte for the first away game on Aug. 18, the Horned Frogs got an early start against the 49ers. Junior Seven Castain put the Frogs on the board in the 12th minute with her second goal of the season. Goalkeeper Olivia Geller had two saves that contributed to the team’s first road win this year. Baker got her first career assist.
Head Coach Eric Bell said the team is off to a good start and is happy with their performance in these first two games.
The Frog’s next match against Notre Dame is at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, in South Bend, Indiana. The game will be televised on ACCNX.
