TCU women’s soccer falls to No. 14 Notre Dame 4-0 in the team’s first loss of the 2024 season.
The Frogs showed their strength and controlled possession during the beginning of the first half.
TCU sophomore defender Bella Diorio made an early impact with a shot headed on goal, deflected by Notre Dame keeper Atlee Olofson.
Shortly after, in the 14th minute, Notre Dame freshman Izzy Engle scored with a shot inside the near post, giving the Irish the lead.
The advantage doubled before halftime when freshman Lily Joseph’s shot deflected off a Horned Frog defender, putting the Irish up 2-0 at the half.
The Irish kept up the pressure at the start of the second half, with Engle scoring her second goal of the night in the 47th minute to advance Notre Dame’s lead.
Despite the deficit, the Frogs did not go out without a fight. TCU took six shots and forced two saves in the second half. However, Notre Dame sealed their victory with a penalty kick in the 84th minute, securing a final score of 4-0.
While the Frogs managed 11 shots, their shooting accuracy of 27% was trumped by the Irish, who boasted a 58% shooting accuracy.
