During this year’s family weekend, TCU football will take on the University of Central Florida at Amon G. Carter on Sept. 14. To fill your time before Saturday’s 6:30 p.m. game, consider these activities.
1. Brunch at Yogi’s Deli and Grill
Yogi’s Deli and Grill is a popular place TCU fans enjoy before a long day at the stadium. The deli is located on South Hulen Street in Fort Worth. Yogi’s is a casual restaurant featuring all-day breakfast and light lunch fare. This diner-themed restaurant also has multiple TVs, allowing you to keep up with the various college football games happening throughout the day.
2. Attend Other Sporting Events
Horned Frog football will not be the only TCU team playing over family weekend. The TCU volleyball team will play UCLA at home on Friday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m. The TCU women’s soccer team is also playing at home on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1:00 p.m. against Cal Poly. Make sure to get tickets beforehand by visiting TCU Athletics.
3. The Historic Fort Worth Stockyards
Be sure to check out the Fort Worth Stockyards! This historic venue’s restaurants and stores have a western flare. The area also has a booming nightlife. Every day at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the cattle drives make their way through the historic stockyards, claimed to be a Fort Worth must-see.
4. The TCU Parent and Family Program Tailgate
Every year during Family Weekend, TCU hosts a tailgate for all students and family members outside the football stadium. The tailgate includes catered buffet-style meals, non-alcoholic beverages, lawn games and much more. This tailgate is a great way for students and families to meet one another, alumni and others belonging to the TCU community.
You can find information, prices and tickets for the family tailgate online at TCU Family Weekend.
5. Kappa Alpha Theta 5K
On Sunday, Sept. 15, consider supporting a philanthropic cause by participating in Kappa Alpha Theta’s annual 5K. This event helps to raise money for CASA of Tarrant County, an organization that provides abused and neglected foster children with advocates in the foster system. This family-friendly philanthropy event allows families to support a good cause. The event is perfect for all ages to finish off the busy weekend. Information and registration can be found online at TCU Theta Casa 5K.
These are just five of the many things to do during this year’s family weekend. Go to TCU’s schedule of events to find out more about the events happening on campus during the Sept. 13 weekend.
